New Trad Octet in a Tribute to Sousa Nov. 2, 2013 / 8pm Sitnik Theater of the
Music Lovers Can Come and Celebrate a
American Music History with a Twist.
The month of November is starting off with a bang when Centenary Stage Company welcomes The New Trad Octet
in a Tribute to Sousa Saturday, November 2nd at 8 p.m. at The Lackland Center. This unique band brings a brand
new sound with exciting arrangements of the music of John Phillip Sousa, also known as “The March King.” The
band integrates the music of one of the most popular American musicians of the 20th century with the joyful
rhythms of modern Haitian “Kompa” and other Caribbean styles. This century-wide connection ties
modern American Culture, with its many Caribbean influences, to a time when concerts in the town square were
the social and cultural life for many Americans.
The New Trad Octet tickets are $22.50 for adults and $15 for children under 12 when purchased in advance. All
ticket orders for concerts and special events increase $5 when purchased on the day of the performance. This
concert is sponsored in part by Heath Village, Wells Fargo Bank, and Home Instead Senior Care.
You can have peace of mind while enjoying world-class entertainment with our barrier-free access available
at every Centenary Stage Company performance in the Lackland Center.
The new facility includes ample doorways, convenient curb cuts, ramps, and automatic power doors for easy wheelchair
and mobility device accessibility. There is convenient parking on a first-come, first-served basis for vehicles
with handicapped placards and/or license plates. Accessible restrooms are located on the main lobby
level, and there is Elevator service to the upper level of the Lackland Center. CSC offers Wheelchair-accessible
and companion seating upon request. Our assistive listening devices allow you to adjust the volume of the
performance and enjoy it at your own level. Large print programs are available for all Theater Series performances
with a 1-week advance notice.
