Renaissance Chamber Ensemble, Fanfare Consort,
"A feast for the soul and the intellect!" "This ensemble is not
to be missed!" "Fanfare Consort" will perform on the Centenary Stage on Saturday, April 4th at 8 PM. "Lords and ladies" of the Skylands will be transported back to the colorful great cathedrals and royal courts of Europe with this critically acclaimed ensemble, which the Washington Post called ".. near perfection." Early music springs to life under the artistry of the Fanfare Consort, which performs on authentic period instruments, such as the clarion (the baroque valveless trumpet), the basso continuo, the fretted lute and harpsichord. Led by founder and Artistic Director Thom Freas, the ensemble is said to "freshly unearth the splendors of the 16th and 17th centuries," with a repertoire which includes the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Alessandro Scarlatti and the glory of the Baroque era of music.
