The Play
The Centenary Stage Company, a professional theater company housed on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ, will end its 2006-07
season with the wonderfully charming play Quartermaine's Terms by Simon Gray. Quartermaine's Terms is a delightful portrait
of a mediocre but loveable English schoolteacher named St. John Quartermaine and his fellow faculty at a small school in Cambridge. A play
that is at once full of doom and gloom and bristling with wry, even uproarious comedy. Mr. Simon Gray's people are silly and selfish, but
they are not foolish. Life has a way of never turning out as we expected. That is what Quartermaine's Terms brings beautifully to
the stage.
Playwright: Simon Gray
Director: Carl Wallnau
The show will be directed by producing director Carl Wallnau. Mr. Wallnau has directed numerous productions including the world premiere
of Inventing Montana and The Tillie Project. He has been cited for outstanding direction in productions of Springtime
For Henry and Pygmalion and has directed in numerous regional theaters including Hartford Theater Works and Musical Theater Works.

Reviews
"There isn't a weak link in the cast... "
"Jay Gaussoin makes an excellent
transition... "
"Eddie is a principal who starts out jauntily and must age into
infirmity; Andrew Boyer beautifully accomplishes the changeover. As Anita,
Katrina Ferguson has the smooth edge of the upper crust, though she'll coarsen
it with her lusty desires. Steven L. Barron makes Henry sound convincingly British...
"
"Christopher Young is delicious as Derek..."
"Last, but not least -- unless we're
talking about his character -- is Steven Dennis as Quartermaine.
What a marvelous portrait of a true innocent...Costume designer Julia Sharp wisely
puts him in brown clothes so he dissolves into the mahogany woodwork..."
"Director Carl Wallnau goes to the head of the class with this
one."

"A strong cast under the sensitive direction of Carl Wallnau illuminates the rich detail which Gray provides for his multifaceted characters,
and provides New Jersey theatregoers with a rare and welcome opportunity to experience this exceptional play."
"John Hobbie has designed a solid, realistic set. Julia Sharp's costume appear lived in and are most character appropriate."

Just Prior to the 8pm Performance of Quartermaine's Terms
Frequently described as "God's Country", the region of Northwest New Jersey holds some of the most beautiful land and vistas in
the entire state. With its majestic rolling hills, historic villages, excellent trout streams, the mighty Delaware River and the pastoral farmlands,
the Skylands region of the state is a prime destination for outdoor tourism and general quality of life pursuits.
The Foodshed Alliance
Born out of a dream of a self-sustaining rural economy, and the preservation of priceless natural resources, the Foodshed Alliance was formed
in 2001 as a grassroots, non-profit organization devoted to creating a vibrant future for locally grown food, sustainable farming, and the
enjoyment of authentic, farm-fresh food in northern new Jersey.
The Alliance is working to foster the development of a self-sustaining "foodshed" that nourishes people, sustains farmers, strengthens
our communities and enriches the land. The "Buy Fresh, Buy Local" campaign is a means for consumers to connect with local farmers
who are growing and producing fresh, healthy food. "This wonderful organization is providing a critical component for promoting and
preserving the quality of life elements which we all treasure in the communities of Northwest New Jersey. It is a mission which we at the Centenary
Stage Company both share and heartily support," stated CSC Artistic Associate, Catherine Rust.
