“One World Tribe covers musical
styles like water covers the globe”

The Centenary Performing Arts Guild Concert Season will kick off this October with an exhilarating performance by “One World Tribe,” the multicultural ensemble formed by Pennsylvanian Kennedy Thompson. Inspired by a vision of bringing together musicians of various racial and ethnic backgrounds in order to break down social and racial barriers, the members of One World Tribe include musicians and dancers from as far away as Africa and as close as Montego Bay, Jamaica and Puerto-Rico. Internationally acclaimed band One World Tribe will bring its music to the Centenary Performing Arts Guild in Hackettstown NJ on Saturday October 29th at 8pm.

One World Tribe - Group Photo - October 29, 2005With members hailing from Africa, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, One World Tribe is a true multi cultural ensemble. The Band was created on the premise of bringing together musicians of various racial and ethnic backgrounds in order to break down social and racial barriers. Their mix of Latin, Reggae, African and Jazz styles is a reflection of the diversity of the band with members from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Senegal, Sudan and the United States. The orchestrations of this dynamic group explore a range of styles from Latin and world beat, Caribbean and Brazilian styles, West African Rhythm and drum traditions, to the uniquely American Gospel and American Rhythm and Blues.

The strength of One World Tribe is the truly global mindset of the group. The members' musical versatility reaches the full spectrum as well as the fact they are all accomplished musicians; some with roots in jazz, while some members play in chamber orchestras. A few were influenced by such pop greats as the Beatles. Some were growing up with an R&B influence while other members were growing up in East Africa among the rhythm of djembas. The members of the Band Include: Kennedy Thompson (Vocals, keyboard, and Percussion), Mike Chin(Bass), Preach Freedom(Vocals and Percussion), Dynamo(Vocals and Keyboards), Mebane Ramah Diane(Vocals, Demes, and Talking Drum), Frank Singer (Guitar and Keyboards), Ring Brill (Congas, percussion), Matt Collicchia (Drum Set), and Kenny "Funkystroke" Ollis (Guitar).
