Piping, fiddling, step dancing and the folk traditions of Ireland
and Scotland will bring a taste of the Heather to Hackettstown this
spring when the ROAD TO THE ISLES Ensemble performs at the Centenary
Performing Arts Guild on Saturday, April 2 at 8 PM at the Centenary
Theatre.
Drawing from a wealth of experience, the five ensemble members
of ROAD TO THE ISLES perform the instrumental music, dance and folksong
traditions of both cultures, including the highland fling, the sword
dance, sean triubhas, the Irish reel and jig, slip jig, and hornpipe,
complemented by songs, stories, and instrumental solos, duets and
trios.
Special
Step Dancing Workshop April 2, 2005 4pm
In addition to the concert, a Special Step Dancing Workshop
will be offered for the public as part of the day's events
at 4 PM on April 2. The cost of the workshop will be $10,
which may be deducted from the price of a ticket for the evening's
performance. Participants must call to reserve their space
for the workshop.
Also on hand for the Celtic festivities at Centenary will
be members of the Irish-American Organization of Northwest
New Jersey, with information about classes Celtic language
studies, Irish dance classes, and upcoming events in the region
that celebrate the culture of Ireland, as well as membership
information for the organization.

Individual Tickets
Individual tickets for the performance of Road to the Isles are
$17.50 for adults, $15.00 for Seniors/Students and for children
under 12.
