"An
idyllic outing of music"
Award-winning Renaissance City Winds Returns to Centenary Stage Back by popular demand, the award-winning Renaissance City Winds will return to the Centenary Stage on Saturday, April 3 at 8 PM, with a exciting repertoire of music spanning over five hundred years, from the lyrical strains of renaissance music through the dynamic work of contemporary American composers. Hailed as one of Pennsylvania's foremost chamber ensembles since its founding in 1975, the RCW has performed throughout the eastern United States, with past appearances at the Kennedy Center, New York's famed Carnegie Recital Hall, and the Pennsylvania Governor's Home. Heard frequently on Public Radio, the group has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Chamber Music America, and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music. Originally a woodwind quintet, the ensemble expanded in 1988 into the Renaissance City Winds to create an even more diverse performance experience. The April 3 concert at Centenary Stage will include a program of French delights by Ibert and Flegier, a commission by an American composer, a vibrant masterpiece by Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos, as well as a suite of Renaissance pieces and a selection of J.S. Bach’s favorite fugues. Tickets for the April 3 concert are $15 adults and $12.50 for children under 12, and are available online @ www.centenarystageco.org, or through the Centenary Performing Arts Guild box office at 908-979-0900. Tickets Renaissance City Winds will perform at CSC on April 8, 2004 at 8 PM. Tickets for the Renaissance City Winds are $15 general admission and $12.50 for children/12. How to Purchase Tickets
