Centenary Stage Company Offers
“Career, Conflict and Caregiving –
Managing Modern Life in the 21st Century”

Symposium Presentation on Careers and Family
in Conjunction With The New Play
Sunday, Feb. 29 , 2004 / Following the 2:30 matinee

In conjunction with the Centenary Stage Company Premiere of Allison Moore's new play, The Strange Misadventures of Patty, Patty’s Dad, Patty’s Friend Jen and a Bunch of Other People, CSC will offer a symposium and discussion entitled "Career, Conflict and Caregiving - Managing Modern Life in the 21th Century." The symposium is open to the public and will follow the Sunday, Feb. 29th matinee performance of The Strange Misadventures of Patty....

In addition to discussion with the playwright, cast and artistic staff, the symposium will include other guest speakers, including Gail Werner, who is currently the Coordinator of Senior Activities with the Washington Township Recreation Department. Werner will discuss resources available to families who are juggling career and care-giving, amongst other contemporary family issues. Werner, who is a registered nurse, is also the Coordinator of the Parish Nursing Program of the Panther Valley Ecumenical Ministry, which is dedicated to "ensuring the health of mind, body & spirit" through education in the community. The Parish Nursing Program offers health referrals, a seminar series with guest physicians, as well as a number of classes for the community and an annual blood drive. Werner is also on the board of the NW Regional Women's Center.

The Strange Misadventures of Patty... is a fast-paced, humorous look at the absurdities of our modern attempts to juggle career and family responsibilities in a Starbuck's kind of world. Young urban professional, Patty, is in line for a promotion at her job, where she is a successful economist. She has just bought her own house, where she lives with her best friend, Jen, a scientist who claims to have 'superpowers.' Her boss, Mr. Clark, wants Patty to take over the West Coast business. Patty's plans for the future are suddenly challenged when she is unexpectedly reunited with her father, whom she hasn't seen in eight years. Moore's dynamic and poignant new play is a compelling examination of modern life and family ties.

For more information about tickets or the "First Sundays Symposium Series" call CSC at 908-979-0900, or learn more online on this site. The Strange Misadventures of Patty... runs Feb. 27 - Mar 13 at the Centenary Stage Company.
