On
Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, the Centenary Stage Company
lobby will be alive with members of the Irish Setter Rescue Organization
of NJ and some of their clients. In conjunction with the final weekend
performances of CSC's Alice In Ireland, the Irish romp
through a wonderland of characters, the Irish Setter Rescue Organization
will be on hand to discuss the association's programs, and introduce
audience members to some of the graceful setters that are in need
of good homes. Adoption success dogs will be present with their
owners, who will talk about their experiences in the program.
The Eastern Irish Setter Association's Rescue and Adoption Program,
of which the NJ organization is a branch, is part of a national
network sponsored by the Irish Setter Club of America that rescues
the dogs from pounds, inhumane living conditions, and other situations
which leave owners unwilling or unable to keep and care for them.
The goal of the organization is to place all rescued Irish Setters
in homes that will provide both the love and care the dog needs
for the ret of its life, as well as the opportunity for the new
owners to enjoy the loyalty and devotion the Irish Setter is known
for. Due to their winsome, gentle personalities, several of the
organization's dogs are also active in pet-therapy programs throughout
the state.
In
addition to their appearance in the CSC lobby, members of the Organization
and their adopted setters will be marching in the upcoming New York
City St. Patrick's Day Parade.
