"What Caruso was to the voice,
Del Forno is to the guitar," raved the Il Messaggero
of Rome. Hailed by critics as "The Master of Classical
Guitar," Anton Del Forno will bring his acclaimed gifts to the
Centenary Stage in Hackettstown, for one night only, Saturday, January
27 at 8pm. Performing with flautist Melanie Wesley, this classical
concert will include rare selections of music from the Renaissance
to the Contemporary era, including works by Handel, Bach, Scheidler
and H. Villa Lobos.
Since
his debut at Carnegie Hall, Del Forno has performed at concert halls
throughout the world, leaving audiences spellbound. In addition
to innumerable performances on radio and television programs, Del
Forno has performed with the Joffrey Ballet, and as lead guitarist
with the Metropolitan Opera, as well as the Broadway production
of Man of La Mancha. He has recorded for CBS-Europe
and Juston Records, and his Anton Del Forno In Concert,
Part II recording won the "Feature Album of the Week"
on WQXR, the New York Times Classical radio station.
Performing with Del Forno for the January 27 concert,
Melanie Wesley is an accomplished flautist and teacher with an extensive
performing career. In addition to solo and chamber performances
throughout the region, and private coaching, Wesley is an instructor
of music at Rutgers University.
Tickets for this classical evening will be $15 for adults and $12.50
