The Strange Misadventures of Patty...Playwright: Allison Moore.

Superpowers, family dynamics and the nature of modern life are at the heart of a vital new play which will premiere at the professional Centenary Stage Company in February. The Strange Misadventures of Patty, Patty’s Dad, Patty’s Friend Jen and a Bunch of Other People by Allison Moore, will open February 27 and run through March 13 at the Centenary Theatre in Hackettstown. Developed in the CSC Women Playwrights Series, The Strange Misadventures of Patty, Patty’s Dad, Patty’s Friend Jen and a Bunch of Other People will mark the 5th new play to make its way from development to full production in the developmental program started by CSC over 10 years ago.

In this funny and poignant new work, young, urban professional - Patty - is a successful economist. Her friend Jen, a scientist, has superpowers, although she refuses to use them for her boyfriend. When Patty is suddenly reunited with her estranged father, whom she hasn’t seen in eight years, they must learn again the language of family in this wry look at modern life and changing relationships.

Patty... posterThe Women Playwrights Series at CSC is dedicated to providing a working forum for women writing for the theatre today. WPS is made possible in part through the generous support of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and CSC members and sponsors.
