Centenary Performing Arts Guild Launches the First Annual Art Gallery
fundraiser "Art for Art's Sake"

The
Centenary Performing Arts Guild in union with local professional
artists will be hosting an art exhibit/sale entitled Art for Art's
Sake on the campus of Centenary College. The gallery will be open
Oct. 8th - through Oct. 26th in conjunction with the Centenary Stage
Company's season première of Tartuffe!.
The gallery will consist of art with media range from oil, to photography,
pastels to acrylics as well as clay sculpture and silk screening.
Aesthetically diverse as well, each artist has a unique approach
to representation. The work may interpret people and things in their
environment or take on a more personal view embracing the abstract.
All the art will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going
to benefit the theatre.
An opening wine and cheese reception will be held on Saturday
October 8th from 6pm-8pm in the Ferry Hall Gallery located on
the Centenary College Campus. The exhibit and reception are free
and open to the public.
Featured artists include:
Garry Caal
Garry Caal is an assistant professor of Art and Design at Centenary
College. Garry received his BFA fro the Philadelphia College of
Art and his MFA from the University of Delaware. He recently had
an exhibit at Sussex County College.
Carol Yoshimine
Artist Carol Yoshimine is the Associate professor of Fine Arts at
Centenary College. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan
and her MFA from Pratt University. She is currently exhibiting at
Viridian Artists located in the heart of NYC.
Hyo-Chung Yoo
Hyo-Chung Yoo is an assistant professor of Fine Arts at Centenary
College. Ms. Yoo received her BFA and MFA from Ehwa Woman's University
in Seoul Korea. She exhibits her work internationally as well in
private and public collections.
Kulvider Kaur Dhew
Artist Kulvider Kaur Dhew received her MA in painting from the Royal
College of Art in London. She currently teaches at Sussex County
and Peter's Valley. She exhibits her work internationally and is
included in many public and private collections.
Charles J. Lid
Charles J. Lid is originally from Sparta New Jersey. He received
his BFA in art from Mason Gross and continued his studies at Peter's
Valley. His work is currently on display at Peter's Valley and Drue
Chryst Gallery in Sparta New Jersey.
Christine O'Brien
Christine O'Brien- Mase is also a Sparta resident. She is a graduate
for the University of the Arts where she received her BFA in photography
and art therapy. She is also an accomplished mural artist and her
work was recently featured in New Jersey Design Magazine.
Andrea Kelly
Andrea Kelly received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts. She
is currently an adjunct professor at Morris and Sussex County. Her
work in represented in public and private collections in the United
States.
Gail Mardfin
Gail Mardfin received her masters in Art from Montclair University
with a concentration in silk screening. She is a member of Myhelan
Cultural Arts Center in Long Valley and Somerset Art Association
in Pluckemin.
Vikki Smith
Vikki Smith received her BFA from Parsons School of Design. Her
work has been exhibited in various local museums including Myhelan
Cultural Arts Center and Tewksbury Historical Society.
