The Centenary Stage Company,
a not-for-profit, professional Equity theatre in residence on the
campus of Centenary College, is awarded grants each year in support
of general operations for the following season.
Funding from the Dodge Foundation in past seasons has helped to
build CSC's Women Playwrights
Series (WPS), as well as the development of several outreach
programs for regional schools, now offered through CSC. Playwright
Darrah Cloud, whose work Dreamhouse was featured in the
2000 CSC Women Playwrights developmental workshop series, and later
on the CSC mainstage in 2002, was named as one of the dynamic new
playwrights designated by Disney to develop work for Broadway. Playwright
Allison Moore, whose play The Strange Misadventures of Patty,
Patty's Dad, Patty's Friend Jen and a Bunch of Other People
was featured in the 2002 WPS was mentored in NYC by Pulitzer Prize
winning playwright Marsha Norman ('night Mother), and received a
McKnight Fellowship to continue her work. Moore's play was presented
at CSC in March, 2004, as part of the mainstage season.
Through the generous support of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation,
the growing CSC Outreach Program is now able to offer:
"Day-in-the-Arts" programming
A student matinee series
Theatre workshops
Artist-in-residence programs to local schools
The Centenary Stage Company is now in its 19th season of presenting
professional programming. The presence of professional actors, designers
and directors has been a vital resource for a new Theatre Degree
program at Centenary College, which is one of the few academic programs
to offer its students the opportunity for Equity Membership Candidacy
through it's affiliation with the Centenary Stage Company.
