Profits benefit the new Cancer Center
at Hackettstown Community Hospital

A series of 4 concerts featuring leading jazz musicians and the music of great composers will make the Summer sizzle at Centenary College. Concert series will begin Saturday, July 17th and run for four consecutive Saturdays at 8pm in The Little Theatre. The concerts feature four major jazz artists who have established themselves as great players in the world of jazz.

The featured artists are Saturday, July 17th Phil Woods, member of American Jazz Hall of Fame, with the Jesse Green Trio; Saturday, July 24th The Warren Vache Quartet; Saturday, July 31st great trombonist Urbie Green Quintet featuring Kathy Green on vocals and Jesse Green on piano; Saturday, August 7th one of America's great jazz vocalists, Jerry Harris and guest star tenor saxophonist David "Fat Head" Newman.

This concert series is being produced by Coyne Enterprises in cooperation with WRNJ 1510 AM, WNTI 91.9 FM and Centenary Performing Arts Guild and is sponsored by Merrill Lynch.

A member of the American Jazz Hall of Fame. Phil Woods has performed with jazz greats such as: Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Barnett, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Thelonious Monk, and many others. Phil is active as a bandleader, composer, arranger and soloist worldwide.


Warren Vaché Quartet

July 24 / 8 pm

Warren is a great Jazz Trumpeter, whose style ranges from Dixie Land to Contemporary. He has worked with the country’s finest jazz musicians and can be heard on many jazz recordings as well his own recordings.

This great jazz trombonist, has played with Gene Krupa, Woody Herman’s 3rd Herd. He has also recorded with Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and has won “The Most Valuable Player Award” for the national Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Jerry Harris is one of America’s great male jazz vocalist, backed by a solid rhythm section and also featuring the swinging tenor sax of David “ Fathead” Newman.

Peter Ward, your host of the WRNJ 1510 AM / Jazz Program "Sunday Brunch" will MC these concerts! The concerts will be recorded by WNTI, the Centenary College radio station, and General Manager, Paul Maassen intends to replay segments of the concerts on its jazz programs.

Location

All performances will take place in the intimate 174 seat "Little Theatre" on the campus at Centenary College - 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown. Also see Directions.
