Hannah
and Kelly are living the electrifying life of two young, single
women in the big city, in Susan Johnston's engaging new play,
Finding The Eye. Hannah, gentle Southern transplant to the
city, now finds herself swept up into a world of salsa dancing and
the search for a meaningful relationship. She is drawn to the charming
and confident Matteo, but his secrets will challenge her trust.
As a deep friendship develops between Hannah and her vibrant Latino
neighbor,"Mama," Hannah must find the strength to make
decisions about her own life and the identity she will forge for
herself in this new city.
On Wednesday, April 23, at 7:30 PM, the Centenary Stage Company's
Women Playwrights Series will continue with the workshop presentation
of Susan Johnston's Finding The Eye. Offered free of charge,
the WPS is a developmental program dedicated to providing a working
forum for the underserved and unique voice of women writing for
the theatre today.
Accompanied by refreshments and discussion with the playwright
and the cast, the WPS series offers an opportunity for playwrights
to collaborate with professional actors and directors, and receive
input from the public while developing their work. The audience
feedback becomes an integral part of the writing process. One play
from the WPS is selected for full production in a subsequent professional
Centenary Stage Company season.
