Honk!, A Day in Hollywood - A Night in Ukraine,
Blood Brothers, All My Sons and One Act Playhouse
2006 YPW Summer Festival Of Shows

The Young Performers Workshop, an educational program for children and teens, ages eight to 18, sponsored by the Centenary Stage Company, will present its 2006 Summer Festival of Shows from Aug. 18th through Aug. 27th at the Centenary Theatre on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ.

Led by Broadway, film and television veteran Michael Blevins, the YPW is an intensive professional theatre training camp for young people, featuring concentrated training by a professional staff in the disciplines of acting, voice, tap and theatre dance.

Honk!
The musical Honk! , written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, is the story of Ugly whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice form his family and neighbors. Along his rocky and harrowing journey he not only discovers his true beauty but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms.

Honk! will perform Aug. 18th at 8pm, Aug. 19th at 5pm, Aug. 20th at 7pm, Aug. 26th at 5pm and Aug. 27th at 1pm.

A Day in Hollywood - A Night in Ukraine
The musical A Day in Hollywood - A Night in Ukraine, written by Dick Vosburgh and Frank Lazarus, takes place in the lobby of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in the 1930's where members of the ushering staff sing a musical tribute to the screen stars and productions of the magical era. A wonderfully entertaining musical packed with toe tapping number that will leave you singing in the aisles.

A Day in Hollywood - A Night in Ukraine performs on Aug. 19th at 2pm, Aug. 20th at 1pm, Aug. 25th at 8pm, Aug. 26th at 8pm, and Aug. 27th at 4pm.

Blood Brothers
The musical Blood Brothers, written by Willie Russell, is a haunting rags to riches tale of our time. A women with numerous children to support surrenders one of her new born twins to the childless women she cleans for. The boys grow up streets apart, never learning the truth but becoming firm friends and falling in love with the same girl.

Blood Brothers will perform on Aug 19th at 8pm, Aug 20th at 4pm, Aug. 26th at 2pm and Aug. 27th at 7pm.

All My Sons
The classic drama All My Sons ,written by Arthur Miller, tells the story of Joe Keller, a successful middle-aged self-made man who has done a terrible and tragic thing. Joe has spent his entire life in the single minded pursuit of wealth for the sake of his family, and American Dream gone nightmarishly awry, this play tells the story of responsibility.

All My Sons will perform, Aug. 22nd, 23rd and 24th at 7:30pm.

One Act Playhouse
There will also be a presentation of one act plays in the One Act Playhouse presented by the students. The festival's One Act Playhouse is free admission.

One Act Playhouse will perform Aug. 26th and Aug. 27th at 11am

Young Performers Workshop Program
The YPW is part of the educational arm of the professional Centenary Performing Arts Guild, offering conservatory style theatre training for young people ages 8-18 in three sessions each year. Led by Broadway (Tap Dance Kid), Film (A Chorus Line) and TV (Tony Awards) veteran Michael Blevins, the Young Performers Workshop is now in its thirteenth year and has been hailed by the Star Ledger as “the best kids troupe around.” For more information about the YPW Festival of Shows or Registration for the YPS 2006 Fall Session, contact the Centenary Performing Arts Guild at 908-979-0900 or see our YPW Program page online.

Currently we are accepting applications for our summer program, a unique diverse theatre camp that offers conservatory style training and ends with the performance of 3 full length musicals, a dramatic production and a series of one act plays. The Camp hours are Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm and the session begins Monday July 24th and runs through August 27th.

Tickets

Tickets for the 2006 Young Performers Workshop Summer Festival of Shows are $8 for adults and $6.50 for children under 12. You can purchase tickets in advance on this Web site using our Online Ordering System or by calling the Centenary Performing Arts Guild Box Office at 908-979-0900. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the performances.
