Lonette McKee
Lonette
McKee is one of our favorite instructors. We are always pleased
when she returns to teach our Masters Series for Actors. The photo
shows her with her 2001 class.
Ms. McKee made her film debut in the cult film Sparkle,
and has gone on to appear in such films as Spike Lee's Jungle
Fever (opposite Wesley Snipes) and Malcom X (opposite
Denzel Washington), Francis Ford Coppola's The Cotton Club
and Gardens of Stone, and Bertrand Tavernier's Round Midnight.
She has starred opposite Richard Pryor in Brewsters Millions,
and appeared with Sean Connery in Cuba. She also co-starred
in the Spike Lee's He Got Game (also opposite Denzel Washington)
and the Showtime film Blind Faith, opposite Courtney Vance. Her
long list of film credits range from Jungle Fever to the
recent Movie of the Week, For Love of Olivia, in which she
played the title role.
TV personality and Broadway and film actress, Lonette McKee is
a regular on TV's Third Watch for ER creator, John
Wells. Her television appearances also include the mini-series The
Women of Brewster Place, the CBS Movie of the Week, Having
Our Say, with Diahann Carroll and Ruby Dee, based on the Broadway
play written by McCarter Theatre Artistic Director, Emily Mann.
Among her many stage appearances, Ms. McKee was received a Tony
nomination for her starring role of "Julie" in the Broadway
production of Show Boat for Hal Prince. She was also nominated
for the Drama Desk Award for her portrayal of "Billie Holiday"
in the premiere production Lady Day at the Emerson Bar and Grill,
based on the life of Billie Holiday.
Al Mohrman - Actor's
Lab for Adults
Al
Mohrman is our instructor for the Actors
Lab for Adults sessions.
Instructor Al Mohrman is a member of the Actors Equity Association
(AEA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation
of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). His acting credits include
off-Broadway & regional theatre productions. Some of his favorite
roles are "Artie" in House of Blue Leaves, "Johnny" in Frankie
& Johnny in the Clare de Lune, "Barrymore" in I Hate Hamlet,
and "Dr. Treves" in The Elephant Man.
Film credits include Meet Joe Black, Coming To America,
and One Crazy Summer.
TV credits include Guiding Light, One Ljfe To Live,
As The World Turns and Another World. He has also
done extensive commercial work and industrial film work.
Al has a BA in English from Montclair University, an MFA in Acting
from Brandeis University, and an MA in English Lit from the University
of Michigan.
Michael Blevins
Our
Young Performers
Workshop (YPW) is under the direction of Broadway, film, and
television veteran Michael Blevins where students study technique
in acting, voice, and dance with a staff of theatre professionals
in a five-week summer session, as well as a fall and spring session.

Maria Brodeur
- Tyro Program
The
Tyro Theatre Program will be led by Maria Brodeur, an actress with
experience in children's theatre. Brodeur holds a BA in Theatre
& Education from Rutgers University, and studied Meisner Acting
Technique in NYC. She taught Drama in the Edison, Dover, Hackettstown
& Kinnelon Public School Systems, "Creating Plays"
with Joan Ludwig at Playwrights Theatre and Master Classes in Audition
Technique in the Syracuse, NY area to high school students. Brodeur
has an extensive performance career, including 5 years with the
Shoestring Players, as well as performances at Papermill Playhouse,
The Bickford Theatre, Chatham Players and The Barn Theatre. While
living in the Syracuse area Brodeur was on the Board of Directors
for the Fayetteville Playhouse, an Equity summer stock theatre.
Kristin Hammond
- Tyro Program
Instructor Kristin Hammond is a recent graduate of Rowan University
with a BA in Theatre. She has worked on documentary film acting
and has performed as a guest improvisation artist at high schools.
Locally, Kristin has taught at the Summer Stars camp in Randolph,
NJ. Her work is based on Viola Spolin, teaching through theatre
games and improvisation to help students create, express and trust
their intuition. She is our instructor for the Tyro
Theatre Program for children ages 6 - 8.
