Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical

Family Front Porch Series

Wednesday, July 8, 2020

by Melvin Tunstall, III, Douglas Lyon, Greg Borowsky

Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the "Squares Only" small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying to segregated drinking fountains, Lily's quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polkadot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by the events of The Little Rock 9, Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical serves as a colorful history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.

Tevye Served Raw
(Garnished With Jews)

Fringe Festival
October 22 - 25, 2020
Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center

With Yelena Shmulenson, Allen Lewis Rickman the shtetl couple from the Coen brothers' A SERIOUS MAN and Shane Baker the best-loved Episcopalian on the Yiddish stage today.
The Tevye stories are most famous, of course, as the basis of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.  But the musical watered them down to make them more acceptable to the Broadway audience of its day.  TEVYE SERVED RAW goes back to Sholem Aleichem's original, and it shows you what they left out of FIDDLER.

Bachelorette
A NEXTstage Repertory production
November 5 - 8, 2020
The Little Theatre

by Leslye Headland

Ten years out of high school, Regan, Gena and Katie convene in the luxurious bridal suite of their old friend, Becky, the night before her wedding in New York City. Fueled by jealousy and resentment, the girls embark on a night of debauchery that goes from playfully wasted to devastatingly destructive. Their old fears, unfulfilled desires and deep bonds with each other transform a prenuptial bender into a night they'll never forget. A wicked black comedy about female friendship and growing up in an age of excess.
