Kutz Theatre : Lackland Performing Arts Center

A two-man show by literary greats Frank and Malachy McCourt, is a bubbling stew of their well-known humor with a dash of poignancy to sharpen the flavor. This brilliantly structured comedy follows the trials of the young McCourts in poverty-stricken Limerick, Ireland, to their journey to the U.S. and Brooklyn, N.Y., where the young men learn to incoporate the day-to-day lessons of their hard Irish past. A story of immigration, triumph over hardship, and the love between family, A Couple of Blaguards is a theatrical event that will find a place in the heart of every audience member.

Under a Montana Moon

Black Box Festival

November 15 - 18
Kutz Theatre : Lackland Performing Arts Center

After winning standing ovations throughout the U.S. and Europe, Bill Bower's Under a Montana Moon is an enchanting solo show. "She asked me," Bowers said of Anna Deavere Smith, "Why are you a mime?" And it started me thinking about why I am drawn to silence, and I really began to investigate silence in the world. And I realized that something transformational happened to people when they learn to sit and experience something in silence.  Bowers had the opportunity to study with the famed Marcel Marceau.

The Cripple of Inishmaan

Professional Theatre Series

February 22 - March 10
Sitnik Theatre : Lackland Performing Arts Center

by Martin McDonagh

In 1934, the people of Inishmaan learn that the Hollywood director Robert Flaherty is coming to the neighboring island to film a documentary. No one is more excited than Cripple Billy, an unloved boy whose chief occupation has been grazing cows and yearning for a girl who wants no part of him. Billy is determined to cross the sea and audition for the Yank. As news of his audacity ripples through his rumor-starved community, The Cripple of Inishmaan becomes a merciless portrayal of a world comically cramped and relentlessly absurd, even when to everyone's surprise, the orphan and outcast gets his big chance.
